What is Chelsea Kenya Welfare?
The Chelsea 254 Welfare Group is a registered group by Members of the Chelsea Kenya Fans for the members to have a welfare fund that helps it’s members during time of need like hospitalization and bereavement.
The Welfare Fund was started and registered in 2021.
How Can One join the Chelsea 254 Welfare Fund?
To join any of the affiliate branches there are branch reps and branch social media pages to guide.
To join and be a member of the Chelsea 254 Welfare Fund, one must be a member of the Chelsea Kenya Fans larger group through affiliate branches, be inducted and pay registration Fees.
What is the membership Obligation?
The membership obligation refers to the responsibilities of a member, this include Annual registration fee and monthly subscription fees.
The Annual registration fee is Kshs. 300/-
The Monthly Subscription fee is Kshs. 250/- which is paid to the Welfare Account on or before the 10th of every month.
A newly registered member must fill the Welfare Biodata to list his/her beneficiaries.
What is the Welfare Biodata?
The welfare biodata is form that should be filled by all registered members of the welfare.
The biodata form link is shared every month between the 1st and 10th. This enables members to fill the needed details of the Principal Member, their emergency contact person, their next of kin and their list of beneficiaries, Parents, Spouse and Children.
It is the listed member and their beneficiaries that are eligible for welfare benefits.
What are the member benefits?
Member benefits are of two categories, Hospitalization and Bereavement.
Hospitalization.
A member, and his or her beneficiaries can benefit during Hospitalization of the Principal Member, Principal Member’s Parents, Principal Member’s Spouse and their children.Bereavement.
A member, and his or her beneficiaries can benefit during the loss of the Principal Member, Principal Member’s Parents, Principal Member’s Spouse and their children.The Benefit Packages are outlined in the welfare Constitution.
How Does the Welfare Effectively Manage it’s members?
Since the welfare currently has over 1,000 members, the Welfare is further subdivided into Houses named after Chelsea FC Legends.
Currently there are 12 Welfare Houses, consisting of a maximum 100 members. Each House Managed by a House Committee and the House Representative represents the House in the Chelsea 254 Welfare Committee.
What is the Welfare Incubation?
The Welfare incubation is a period in which a newly registered member makes monthly contribution but is not eligible for any welfare benefits.
The Chelsea 254 Welfare Incubation period is 6 Months.
How Does One present a welfare claim?
A registered member who has completed the incubation period and is up to date with his/her monthly subscription presents a welfare claim through the House Rep.
There are documents needed to present the various claims, welfare committee verification of the presented documents and the member biodata.
Hospitalization Claim.
For a Hospitalization Claim, a member presents a stamped Hospital Bill and the Patients Discharge Summary.Bereavement.
For a Bereavement Claim, a member presents a stamped Death Notification or Burial Permit of the deceased.Where a member claims both Hospitalization and Bereavement, both hospitalization and bereavement documents are presented.
Does one benefit from the welfare if the Hospitalization Bill is fully covered by a medical insurance?
Yes, whether the member is covered by Public or Private Insurance and the bill is paid in full or partially, a member can still make a benefit claim and get the welfare benefits.
The same applies if the member fully pays the bill in cash.
How Does One Cease (stop) Being a member?
A member can cease being a member if.
1. The member stops renewing their Monthly renewal for THREE (3) Consecutive Months, the stop being a member.
2. At the beginning of the year a member fails to pay their annual renewal by 31st of March, even if they have been paying for their monthly subscription, they cease being a member.
3. A member as per the welfare constitution commits an act that grossly violets the rules of the welfare and they get expelled, they cease being a member.
4. A member through writing requests to be excused from being a welfare member.
What is the Procedure for one to regain membership after ceasing being a member?
If a member ceases being a member and wants to rejoin the Welfare, they will have to Write to the main Chelsea Kenya Committee to request re-admission.
Upon approval they will have to pay fresh registration and monthly renewal and be under incubation for 6 Months.
What Happens if a member pays the Monthly Subscription after the 10th of the month?
If a member pays for the Monthly Subscription after the set deadline of 10th of the month, the member is considered not up to date, and hence is ineligible for Welfare benefits for that particular month.
What Happens if a member fails to pay for the monthly Subscription?
If a member fails to pay for the Monthly Subscription he/she will not be eligible for welfare benefit for that month.
If they fail to pay till the next renewal dates, they will be deemed to be in arrears for TWO (2) Months and will have to pay for the two months.
